Armor of Unfeeling, staple it to your ****ing bar, 8+1 communing, 10+1 spawning, 12+1+1 channeling.

Signet of Spirits
Bloodsong
Your next favorite spirit(I like vampirism, but agony and destruction work)
Painful Bond
Armor of Unfeeling
Boon of Creation
Spirit's Gift/summon assassin
Summon Spirits

You're raising a 5 npc wide meat shield that can respawn in 10 seconds(20 after they nerf it). Seriously, I went out to kill Quasong Spiritspeak for a Z-Bounty(and to get wanderlust now that I have a reason to) and while I was fighting the temple guardians on the way my spirits were surviving sitting in bed of coals and breath of fire when I had armor of unfeeling up. They're about as tough as minions are(now if only they'd attack...), they were freaking tanking. I could also pull them around with summon, every 5 seconds they get about 100 health. At onbe point the rest of the hench got rage nuked by quoasong, the spirits survived, I pulled them out, dropped painful bond on it, let the assassin out, and watched it get taken apart. It did nuke them the second time, but I re-summoned the spirits quick enough to survive, fall back, get bloodsong and vamp back in play, they finished it off.

Armor of Unfeeling and summon spirits have now made communing not suck in PvE, you have a much better shot at keeping stuff like union, shelter and displacement alive(remember they're immune to crit hits now also). I wonder if the 50% damage reduction works on the effects, like when wanderlust loses health on a hit or displacement....

I did test it out other wise I wouldn't say anything. I'm satisfied. You're just harder to please so there's not much we can do about that. Don't get me wrong though. I don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread but it does make a difference.

Super fun build, pop up the spirits and destroy them for damage or support. Shame the 10s isn't permanent.

I played around with it with both 10 and 20 second recharge and both work pretty decently. You can't spam feast as much with the 20 second but that's it really.

Very true. If people read the dev notes (I know, its a stretch)

Spirit also tend to die quickly in PvE, where their low level and Health make them prime targets for the monster AI. So, to make spirits survive longer, we raised their maximum level by four.
Its too bad they didn't directly mention Armor here as being the final point in keeping spirits alive, but it obvious from the skill description thats exactly what it does.

Tested in HM, effective in HM. If you see other results, learn to play.

Spirits do seem to be targeted less in HM than they were before.

They also dish out more damage due to getting more of them on the field more quickly.

I love the update so far.

[Mantra of Inscriptions] at 9 Inspiration Magic will lower SoS's recharge to 12 seconds, making that build pretty fun again. 2 seconds longer isn't that much, really.

In addition, you can go with a 16/10/9 split then - The newly buffed spawning power skills are decent even at that level.

I've been trying out Armor of Unfeeling and it isn't exactly knocking me off my feet. So far I'm preferring Spiritleech Aura - it tops off their health and does hideous amounts of damage to high armour targets.

This is probably a silly suggestion. But has anyone experimented with echoing it at all? If so how did that fare?

Armor of Unfeeling should be used for spirits that need to stay alive in order to benefit the team, for example Shelter and Union. Though Armor of Unfeeling will not reduce the effect damage, it will reduce any damage from AoE and attacking they may get. Especially using H/H in EotN when many mobs contain things such as Deep Freeze, your spirits are basically useless without Armor of Unfeeling.

Spiritleech Aura, on the other hand, would be used for an offensive spirit spammer using Bloodsong, Vampirism (the life stealing does stack since they don't "do damage" to begin with), and whatever other offensive spirits you want.

The two skills are used almost exclusively for different bars, though I can see Armor of Unfeeling being used for some offensive spammers who liked the old Sorrow's Furnace boss farmer on a rit. =)

You know that spirits do not stack?

Could A.Net fix it so that ALL spirits attack? It's stupid how 1/3 of the skill is wasted. It's like Protective Spirit blocking every third attack above 10%.

You Rits, including myself, have really been busy. Have you been to a Rune Trader NPC in the last 24 hours. The Minor Spawning rune, if you can find it, is a scarce as Hen's Teeth.

I have never in this game gone to a rune trader and not been able to buy a profession/attribute-based rune. My GH NPC had none, the GToB Rune Trader had none. I finally found one at HzH, but immediately after I bought it the option disappeared.

The same has happened with the Shaman Insignia...very hard to find.

Heh.

Yeah, hope no one needs any Rit runes right now. I just popped into HzH to check the rune trader (because that's where I was at the moment)...

Anyway, I finally went and got SoS and ooooh boy am I have too much fun with it. That plus Boon of Creation and Essence Strike = hello there insane e-management :P

I really can't see Spiritleech Aura being that effective. Its in Restoration which means you've got to really spec into a 3rd attribute. It only really works with Vampirism and Bloodsong, Anguish hits for 62 on a hexed foe at 33% IAS, Vampirism/Bloodsong can't beat that. Shadowsong gets blind which is too helpful to drop for an extra ~6 damage. The only reason i take Bloodsong is because Disenchantment would make the build far too energy intensive.

Signet of Spirits + Boon of Creation = no possible way a 15e spirit is too energy intensive.

Sorry, think i meant to post that somewhere else regarding SoGM.

That said it still sucks in a SoS build. If you are attempting to use SoS for DPS your going to be dissapointed as even with multiple other spirits its DPS is very poor compared to SoGM. The more spirits your taking the less slots you have for other things. The only reason to take Spiritleech would be to increase your DPS, and since the DPS is nowhere near high enough to be comparable with SoGM builds its a wasted slot. You have to drain attributes from somewhere. Dropping them from Channeling lowers the effectiveness of all the spirits, dropping them from Spawning lowers the strength of your 3 enchantments.
